Afternoon excursion near Mae Rim, lunch on a lake
My friend Mukda had told me that on Monday she had to go north of Chiang Mai to pay her business tax and she asked me to come with her. She said there was a nice place where we could have lunch near the provincial tax office. I met at her massage shop and her two massage ladies, Yui and Anna joined us. I realized that this would be another opportunity for many photos for them to post on their social media sites, and I would be a photographer. Almost guaranteed to be a good time. We got into Mukda’s “car,” actually a new-looking four-door pickup truck, and headed north towards Mae Rim.
Huay Tueng Thao
The provincial tax office proved a little difficult to find, but it was found and all the tax paperwork was completed quickly. Then we headed to Huay Tueng Thao, a large lake around which there are clusters of open-air huts at the edge of the water. These have tables, and the food is delivered there from several restaurants nearby.

Muka got a photo of me approaching our hut looking all too serious.

We got around the table with no chairs. It is designed to sit cross-legged on the floor. Mukda got a photo of me and her with the lake in the background, then one of all four of us.

While waiting for our food, I took a photo of two geese swimming by, oblivious to us.

Then our food came. A LOT of food, including a whole fish roasting over a flame. These ladies like to eat, and everything I tried was very tasty (I passed on the fish head).

While we were eating, I took a photo of the peaceful setting, the lake with the hills in the background.

An unexpectedly nice lunch break from the norm in Chiang Mai. Back in the car (truck), we were headed north to somewhere from what I could understand had a waterfall. I’ll find out more when we get there.
