Walking around the Wall Again
I am slipping into a pattern, not so bad. I do a morning meditation at the foot of the chedi across the street at Wat Chedi Luang, then have breakfast, check online to see that things are all right with the systems I manage, either go to a morning yoga class or walk around, and then go to an evening yoga class if I did not in the morning, and go to dinner. In between I spend a few hours working every day. Part of my intention for this trip is to also break-in my hiking boots that I will take to walk the Camino de Santiago in April, an 800 km walk in Spain. With that in mind, my walks are a little more deliberate than in past years when I did more casual wandering. I found on the first walk around the wall that (according to my FitBit) it is about 10,500 steps from the 3-Sis Guest House to the wall, around one circuit, and back to 3-Sis.
Today I am walking around the wall the opposite direction than the last walk. The scenes are similar and I took only a few pictures.
Here is a nice shot of Katam corner, the southeastern corner of the wall & moat. This corner was where the water from the moat flowed out into a nearby creek.
Walking west, I reached the southwest corner, rounded Khu Rueng corner, and headed north. I reached Hua Lin corner at the northwest, where in history, water flowed into the moat from a nearby spring.
This is a very old photo showing the wall and moat in the 1800s.
Today, my FitBit reported 11,000 steps when I returned to 3-Sis. It was hot and the shower and clean clothes were welcome. After some rest and computer work, I was off to a 6 PM yoga class. Another good day in Chiang Mai.
