A very popular place for shopping is Nimmanheamin Road, outside the old city, about half a mile from the northwest corner of the wall. I have never been to Nimmanhaemin Road, and decided to check it out. If there is shopping, there has to be food. so at the worst, I should have a good lunch.

It is quite a hike out to Nimmanhaemin Road, perhaps a mile and a half, and there is much traffic. Given the slowness of the traffic I was walking by, walking may be almost as fast as driving.

Nimmanhaeman Road and the many connected side streets are definitely a shopper’s paradise. There are many women’s clothing shops, many coffee shops, a number of restaurants, and basically everything, including a very busy street. Many of the shops are quite upscale, hard to tell that from the pictures.

A view of the shops along part on Nimmanhaemin Road. Mostly small shops, no consistent style of the outside of the buildings.

Another view of shops. While you cannot see it from my pictures, there are quite a few people walking along and shopping. Most stores have people in them or looking in the windows.

And a third view. These buildings are taller, and it looks like apartments make up the upper floors. Chiang Mai University is close, so there is always need for apartments in this area.

One of the side streets…hard to tell the difference, more shops, more for shoppers to check out.

I saw that the Salad Concept had an outlet here, and knowing that it was good, I had lunch there. Tomato-basil soup, a salad, and a latte.

Now for the long walk home. On the way, I passed Kad Suan Kaew, a large mall-style shopping center just a short distance outside the moat at the northwest corner. The group that does foot massages at the Sunday night market were here, so I had a foot massage before continuing my walk back to my familiar neighborhood.
