Full Day of Rain and a Hot Stone Oil Massage

2015 Thailand

Friday, January 9, 2015 Full Day of Rain and a Hot Stone Oil Massage

Rain continued most of the night and while a little lighter this morning, it is still raining steadily. I chose not go go across the street to Wat Chedi Luang for my morning mediation. Today shall be a day of catching up on a few work-related items and also catching up on my blog. In other words, working in my room instead of going out much in the rain.

It rained all morning with no perceptible letup, and at times, the rain came harder and louder. I still have Jane’s umbrella, and the 3-Sis has made several umbrellas available for loan, but rather than walking out to Loi Kroh Massage School to meet Jang, I opted to take a tuk-tuk. As I said in a post in Bangkok, I typically avoid tuk-tuks, as they seem to be maintained and run poorly, and at the same time, the drivers are risky, which also means unsafe. But options are limited today with the steady rain, and I wanted to get the 1.5 KM to Loi Kroh without getting too wet.

Hot Stone Oil Massage

I met Jang, and she already had the room ready. She is no longer teaching at Loi Kroh, and is rather booked-up with private clientele, almost all Thai people, and she said she mostly does Thai massage. She has an agreement with Loi Kroh allowing her to use their facility for the hot stone oil massages.

The massage was as good as I remember. Two hours and my body felt very good. I booked three more hot stone oil massages over the next two weeks. When we were done, the rain had lightened, and I headed out for a walk under Jane’s umbrella in search of a late lunch/early dinner.

Loco Elvis Restaurant & Bar

I walked up to Moon Muang Road (inner road on the east side of the wall/moat) and was soon by Loco Elvis at Rathviti Road (just down from Boutique della Pasta). Loco Elvis is a local restaurant and bar that advertises “Tex Mex Done Right” and they advertise that they have Thailand’s largest private collection of Rock ‘n Roll memorabilia. I have been here one time last year, and focused on the food, so I have not seen the rock ‘n roll memorabilia collection, and may check it out sometime.

They make their own salsa and other sauces fresh every day. And given the access to very fresh produce, their salsa tastes very good, and their other food, as well. I had corn chips and salsa, and the pulled pork enchiladas. Because of the rain, I had not brought my camera, but the food was as good looking as it was tasty. nice presentation, good taste. A very nice meal!
