Wednesday, January 7, 2015 A Low-Key Day and an American Dinner
Today is to be a low-key day. I have a spa appointment at Cheeva Spa today, a newer spa highly recommended by the staff at the 3-Sis. Cheeva is known for using only high-quality, organic products, obtained locally where possible. I requested a 4 and 1/2 hour detox treatment, including:
- Foot soak and massage
- Thai herbal steam
- Revitalizing body scrub
- Australian red clay wrap
- Swedish massage
- Himalayan salt bath
- Refreshing facial treatment
I could have walked, it is only about 1 and 1/2 kilometers away, but they came to pick me up in this cute little minivan car. This really is a mini van, much smaller than the minivans in the U.S.
Here is the entrance to Cheeva Spa, and that is where the pictures end. People in the spa want some privacy, and I did not want to cause any concern by taking photos that may not be welcome.
The whole treatment, from beginning to end was very good, in fact, it is easily as good as Oasis Spa, but about 2/3 the price or perhaps less. (The 4 and 1/2 hour detox package was less than $150.)
After returning to the 3-Sis, I relaxed for a while, and feeling hungry (even though I was given fruit and tea during the spa), and for some reason craving a cheeseburger, I headed to The Duke’s on the Ping River. The Duke’s is an American steakhouse-style restaurant, started in 2005 by David Anichowski, “a man who likes to eat and eat and eat and…” and their slogan is “No claims,…No Games,…Just Great Food.” They make their sauces, breads, soups, dressings, and cakes fresh daily. They buy imported beef from Australia, and they pride themselves in good quality.
I forgot to take picture, but here is a picture from last year, and I had the same thing, a Cesar salad and a bacon cheeseburger. A little decadent ending to a very good day.
