Friday, January 2, 2015 A Lost Day
I woke feeling poorly today. And my lower GI tract told me that the chilies I added to the fried rice at Kanjana last night were too much for my system. They were very, very spicy, and I was wondering what the outcome would be. So today was a rest day, something of a lost day in which I stayed in all day, slept much of the day, and drank the hydration drink I brought with me (fortunately, I have plenty). Later I made my way to the 3-Sis restaurant and had a mango-banana smoothie, something rather bland, but tasty, to easy my stomach back to normal. A lost day, but I am getting my energy back.
Saturday, January 3, 2015 Back to Boutique della Pasta
I woke feeling good, but still a little tired. I made this day one of easing back into things non-aggressively.
I walked down to Wat Jed Lin near Wild Rose Yoga, and hit the large gongs – I just love the low, beautiful g-o-n-g sounds. There are six near the entrance, and they are all a little different. For reference, the smaller gongs are about one meter in diameter (1 meter = 39 inches).
Wild Rose Yoga is in this old teak traditional Thai-style house (not a great picture, but there is a wall in the way of getting a better view). When a group does an OM inside, it is a beautiful sound. The building has good energy, to which I credit Rose, John, and the kula they have built.
I went down to Wild Rose hoping Rose was there, and she was. We talked a bit about classes and such. It was very good to see Rose, but she is very busy so our talk was short. She promised to get me Jang’s new number so I can schedule a hot stone oil massage. Jang is a massage teacher and when she does a massage, it is very nice. Rose is the best! I may not dive into yoga quite yet, as my right elbow is bothering me a little. I am hoping to Skype with my chiropractor back home to see what he thinks I might do.
Last year,my surprise find and what became my favorite non-Thai restaurant was Boutique della Pasta. A couple of days ago, I discovered that they are no longer there. But a perusal of the internet suggested that they moved. So I went in search of Boutique della Pasta, and I did find them (not surprisingly right where the map on their Facebook page says they are, on Ratviti Road, near Moon Muang Road, a much much better location for their business). The menu is the same, and the pasta is made fresh each day by the owner. I had my favorite meal:
Bruschetta – chopped tomato with a little basil, garlic, and olive oil on slightly toasted sliced baguette. This is perhaps the best bruschetta I have ever had. The tomato is fresh and flavorful, the garlic does not overpower, and the olive oil is light and tasty, a compliment to and bringing all the flavors together.
This dish is ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese, pine nuts, parsley, and walnuts with a mushroom, parmesan-cheese sauce. This dish is outstanding.
And there is no room for desert, but a great meal, and I left feeling very good.
A note: Mosquito repellent does not work well unless you apply it. I forgot to use the mosquito repellent, and the mosquitoes found me. I shall not forget again.
