I returned home and to work from the yoga workshop in mid-January, 2012. I mentioned almost jokingly to my boss that the computer systems I manage do not really care where I am, and perhaps I could go to Thailand for a month and work from there. I expected the response to be something like, “nice idea, but we like to see you in the office,” but instead, the response was one of support which I took as a compliment to my work ethic (thank-you!).
We came to the agreement that I would work half time. So on December 26, 2012, I left Los Angeles for Chiang Mai, with stops in Incheon (S.Korea) and Bangkok. I returned to the United States on January 25, 2013.
I reduced the 850+ pictures I took while in Thailand down toabout 200 and added short captions covering many of my favorite sights in and around Chiang Mai.
Looking back, I made a few mistakes – there are only a few pictures of me, and I took no pictures of “my daily life” like the room in which I stayed (and worked), the staff at the 3-Sis guest house where I lived and worked for a month, some of the restaurants at which I ate, the food I ate, and other things I did often. Nevertheless, there are a few pictures of me, giving evidence that I really was there (no, it is not a movie set in Hollywood).
Here is a picture of me at Muang Mai market in front of one of many chili and garlic vendors…
